Golf has been played over the challenging Diss course in Suffolk since 1903. Originally a nine-hole course before being extended to eighteen, the current yardage is 6206 with a par 70.
In its new style, the course has hosted County competitions and in a recent Junior Championship the course record for amateurs was established at level-par 70. The professional record stands at 67. It is within each reach of the town centre and the local train station also, making it all the more popular.
This links course is a real treat as it contains many natural hazards that are almost unnoticeable, blending effortlessly, as they do, into the surrounding landscape. The opening short hole of 209 yards is a tricky test with many bogeys appearing on medal cards. A number of the holes have dogleg features, notably holes 5, 8 & 14. These holes whilst not exceptionally long do need some care when intending to cut the corners with the driver.
The 9th hole, which was originally the first in the nine-hole days, is a gem and after reaching the green in regulation a tricky test of good putting awaits you.
