This is one of Ireland's greatest championship links and enjoys the scenic splendour of three Atlantic beaches on one side and majestic Benbulben Mountain on the other.
Established in 1894, the original 9 hole course was laid out by George Combe, the founding secretary of the Golfing Union of Ireland. A decade later the course was extended to 18 holes by Captain Campbell.
The present Championship links was designed in 1927 by the famous golfing architect, Harry S. Colt, with a variety of holes to create a test for the very best golfers. Over the years legendary players such as Walter Hagen, Bobby Locke, Henry Cotton, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo and Darren Clarke have made the pilgrimage to this classic course.
