The speed with which Celtic Manor has impressed itself on the world golfing scene is little short of miraculous. Less than 7 years after it was founded in 1995, it is selected for the 2010 Ryder Cup Venue.
Already one of the leading golf complexes in Europe, Celtic's three unique courses are supported by a £10 million clubhouse and floodlit golf academy plus a 400 bed Five Star hotel and health spa.
All three courses were designed by the Robert Trent Jones family. Robert senior built courses in 600 different locations around the world before celebrating his Welsh heritage by getting the work on the land of his fathers.
He designed the Roman Road and Coldra Woods courses before Robert junior carved the massive andchallenging Wentwood Hills from the steep slopes overlooking the Usk valley.
Home of the Wales Open event since 2000 Wentwood Hills provides a spectacular golfing experience with a tough uphill finish that taxes the best. It will be adapted to create a purpose built Ryder Cup course with excellent spectator facilities in time for 2010
