Langland Bay is just one of several attractive courses in and around the Gower Peninsula that have a distinctive appeal to visitors.

In Langland's case, the distinction stems from its magnificent views, the fact that it is so well kept and it looks willing to be kind to the visiting golfer.

But just as short people have a feisty nature, short golf courses can also be very belligerent and Langland has a tradition of making you fight for every yard.

Small greens, plenty of bunkers and unwelcoming rough combine to ensure that you will have more to keep your eye on than the scenery.

The finishing holes are particularly difficult, starting with the short 16th which is called "death or glory" because the alternative to hitting the tiny green is to be burried in bracken or playing the second from the beach. Even more fearsome, however, is the par four 6th which is uphill into the wind and is credited with being the toughest in the area.

Then again you have the pleasure of the 8th which runs along the side of caswell bay. After Langland you'll feel well tested but agreeably so.
